About This Site and Weight Loss
More than 35% of the adult US population is obese. If they all loved eating a diet of only fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and just the required amount of protein, one third of the population would not be obese, including this writer. After decades of unsuccessful dieting, I realized that the key was not to diet for atemporary period of time but to change what I ate on a permanent basis. However, I also realized that I was not going to suddenly crave fresh fruits, salads, vegetables, whole grains, and broiled fish. This is my journey to find foods that are both tasty and low calorie to help me lose weight and maintain that weight loss on a permanent basis. Join me on my journey.
Kashi Sesame Chicken
Kashi Steam Meals are great for lunch or dinner. My favorite is Sesame Chicken. It’s all natural with 8 g of fiber, 35g whole grain, 17g protein and is only 300 calories. I find it to be very satisfying, which may be attributable to the fiber. If you like oriental dishes this is a great low calorie alternative to your favorite Chinese restaurant. www.kashi.com
Everyone should have a nutrition guide that provides the nutritional values of the foods that they eat. You may think that this is not necessary because the government requires nutritional labels on foods. However, nutritional labels are only required on packaged foods. A good portion of the food that you eat should not come from packages. Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, diary, fish, poultry and meat should be consumed in addition to any packaged foods.
